Wife of the Governor of Anambra State counsels women on ethics

Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Margaret Peter Obi, has advised women to always be submissive to their husbands at all times.
She gave the advice when some women under the aegis of Women for Sustainable Families paid her mothering Sunday visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Awka.
The Anambra first lady also bemoaned the state of many families in the country and cautioned against the creeping of western values that seemed, according to her, to be at home with divorce and other vices.  She advised women to look inwards and identify with authentic African values of respect for marriage and the family as the basic cell in the society and cradle of civilisation.
She also cautioned against what she called permissive culture that is threatening the fabrics of the society and insisted that the culture of nudity prevalent among youngsters cannot pass for authentic African values.
She charged all mothers to devote more time to their families by teaching them right values that will make the children grow into responsible adults. “Motherhood is not about begetting children, it is also about having the right spiritual disposition”, she said.
Responding, the leader of the group, Dr Uzoamaka Anuagasi, thanked the first lady for showing example of what sound motherhood ought to be.
He said that it was to her credit that under her as the First lady Anambra did not witness stories of amorous gallantry and intrigues common among past governors.
After reminiscences about her love for children and women of the state that had taken her to all the communities in the state, she urged her to continue to radiate light in consonance with Anambra’s status as the “Light of the Nation.”
