Obi inspects final resting place of Achebe as Ogidi agog for him


OGIDI, the home town of the late literary icon, Professor Chinua Achebe is set to receive the body of their illustrious son, who would be buried in the community on Thursday.
Various groups and organizations have been meeting to put finishing touches on the programme as the town is expected to host visitors that would come from many parts of the world.
The state governor, Mr. Peter Obi and members of his cabinet have been shuttling between Awka and Ogidi to ensure that everything is in order.
While in the town, the governor inspected St. Philip’s Anglican Church, Akpakaogwe, Ogidi where the burial service would take place on the 24th.
He also inspected Achebe’s country home and his final resting place which is under construction. It was gathered that there was a redesign of the grave side to serve as a mini museum to house all Achebe’s literary works.
Obi said that Anambra State government was fully prepared to accord Achebe a befitting burial and that the state would not relent in honoring people like him, both dead or alive, who contributed positively to the advancement of the society.
