Cleric tasks Ndigbo on platform

Most Rev. Paulinus  Ezeokafor, Catholic Bishop of Awka, has advised Ndigbo to fashion a platform that they can use as a bargaining power just as their rivals and other major tribes in Nigeria have done. Ezeokafor gave the advice when he paid a visit to St. Matthew’s Catholic Parish Amawbia, near Awka.
said what every major ethnic group does in Nigeria and have continued to do is to get a rallying ground to contest for power. Without that, he reasoned, Ndigbo will not get a good bargain in the affairs of the country because no other ethnic group will be ready to offer its own platform for Ndigbo to bargain for power.
Ezeaokafor spoke just as the Anambra State Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Vincent Ezenwajiaku, blamed bad advice on the part of the embattled former national chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, on the crisis rocking the party. According to him, Umeh may have mistaken himself as chairman of Aguluzoigbo All Progressive Grand Alliance (AAPGA) instead of APGA.
He added:  “As far as I am concerned Chief Victor Umeh is a headless chicken, without a destination.  Victor is a confused man, who has been ill-advised on what to do. As for me, I know, he is fighting the battle of his life because he knows very well that his political career is over.  He is fighting a lost battle; you can see that through the way he speaks and acts. Whatever actions he is taking now is just medicine after death. He has lost his grip on the ladder”. Meanwhile, Bishop Ezeokafor has repeated his warning to Anambra people to be vigilant and make no mistake in their choice of the next governor of the state come 2014, saying whoever will occupy that seat must begin now to understudy Governor Peter Obi. He said: “The storm is gathering again. Shine your eyes. We will resist backward movement. I wish everyone in the gubernatorial race well but they must be prepared to match Obi’s record. You must watch the antecedent of those gearing up to contest for power. They must do whatever is necessary to be close to power at the federal level just as Obi has done. There is no harm in establishing good rapport with the Presidency. We will not accept excuses of poor income from the Federation Account as reason for poor performance in government. They can now begin to make friends as Obi did to carry on with governance and deliver the goods.” According to him, so far, Obi has marveled everybody with his pace of development of the state. If it were in the past, he continued, by now, whoever is in power will be lining his pocket.
But as for Obi, he has continued to work as if he is contesting for another tenure. He said that in the end Obi will go home as a hero who  did his best to right the wrongs done in the past especially in not just handing back schools to the missions but rebuilding them. He warned that the rebuilding plan must continue after his exit otherwise, the incoming administration may have problem with the incumbent.
