Two bomb-making factories were busted on Wednesday in the Farawa and Seika areas of Kano by the military Joint Task Force (JTF) as seven suspected members of the Boko Haram sect were arrested in a raid of the area.
The JTF also rescued four women believed to be wives of the sect members during the operation.
Confirming the incident, spokesman of JTF, Captain Ikedichi Iwehia, told journalists on Wednesday that six assorted wires for priming suicide vehicles, 32 Motorola handsets, one AK 47riffle and 52 Motorola handset batteries were also recovered at the bomb factories.
Iwehia said the operation carried out in the early hours of Wednesday also led to the recovery of 46 Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs) at the bomb making factories.
The operation which, according to Iwehia, lasted for hours did not record any casualty as there was no resistance by the Boko Haram members during the operation.
He disclosed that the bomb factories were later demolished with heavy security operatives on ground to monitor the demolition as a mammoth crowd watch in surprise as the buildings were being demolished.
Iwehia however assured members of the public of the safety of their lives and property, saying the security of lives should be a collective responsibility of everybody .
He also commended the people in the state for their collective and concerned efforts , saying the useful information being given to the security operatives has ensured success in the execution of their operations.
