Abia State Government, Police urge citizens to ignore MASSOB’s sit-at-home order

The Abia state Government has advised its citizens to ignore the sit-at-home order issued by the Movement for Sovereign State of Biafra,MASSOB, to the people of the South East geo-political zone. The exercise has been slated for Saturday, June 8, 2013.

The Government urged the people to go about their normal lawful duties.

Also, the state police command warned MASSOB not to do any thing that would disrupt the order and peace in the state, saying that the full weight of the law would be applied on anybody who attempts to disrupt the peace in the state.

The Command, through the Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, ASP, urged all residents of Abia to disregard MASSOB’s order and go about their lawful businesses.

Abia state Government, in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue warned MASSOB members to stay off Abia state.

The statement said the warning became necessary because security agencies in the state have been placed on red alert to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

Emezue also called on parents to caution their wards against being used by any group to cause trouble, saying that the law would take its course against any offender.

The Government therefore advised its citizens to go about their normal business, assuring that their safety would be guaranteed.

According to the statement, the prevailing peace in Abia state would be sustained at all cost, warning that the governmnet would “not fold its hands and watch enemies of progress destabilize the state
